“Retired and Inspired” – a podcast

I recently had lots of fun chatting with a friend from my Acadia days, back in the late 70s and early 80s, on her new podcast.  We’ve reconnected now that we’re both spending time in the Haliburton Highlands. She’s starting a podcast, “Retired and Inspired” – don’t suppose I’ll ever actually be retired, but I’m definitely slowing down. I think I giggled too much, and said “yeah” about 200 times, but it’s a nice chat, nonetheless. Heather (Hez) has a great voice for radio, and she does the Tuesday morning show on Canoe FM, the community radio station in Haliburton.

Back in Nova Scotia for a couple of weeks, enjoying some pickleball, and a visit from Granddaughters #2 and #3 (and their parents, Liam & Rachel).

And I had so much fun doing illustrations for a family book my friend Carole is putting together for her many great nieces and nephews.

It’s interesting to feel like a visitor to Wolfville (since I’ve been here for most of the time since 1978…)

Hope your summer isn’t whizzing by too quickly, and that you’re having fun and staying cool!

A blogging friend had a website called “Rocking Retirement” (she paints rocks marvelously and imaginatively) but from her posts i don’t see any signs of retirement even as she officially qualified for it a couple of years ago. I like your illustrations, also 👩🏻‍🎨🎨

  2. This was an excellent interview, Heather is a great interviewer and you answered the questions with honesty. We have a lot in common, as I already knew, but learned more. I can’t swim either, but love being near the water, my favourite children’s author is Kate DiCamillo, and I enjoy visiting schools and talking about my books and writing. I love how you have always been driven by creativity. Well done!

  3. Just finished listening to this podcast episode while weeding my front walkway. It made a disagreeable activity very enjoyable. I didn’t know you couldn’t swim, but think it’s marvellous you still enjoy being around water. I can swim, but absolutely HATE getting water on my face in any other context. The thought of putting my face under a running shower is abhorrent to me.

I’m so sorry we weren’t able to meet up for an in-person coffee, but listening to this was the next best thing. And we’ll have to have an extra-long catch-up session at Charts in October.
